What is it that we really believe?

Like so many people of my age we tended to listen to what we were taught from pulpits where the speakers were ‘six feet above contradiction’.

As a result of the traumatic changes that took place in 1995 I was faced with a dramatic reappraisal of my own beliefs.  I subsequently created some mind maps that reflect some of the questions I was faced with.  You might find them stimulating:
Basic Christianity (some challenging considerations)
Jesus
Why do YOU believe in God?
Gospel Outlines

Then in “Christianity – outside the box” I have included pointers to what seem to me to be important discussion topics.

I would be happy to share my thoughts with anyone who is interested.

Do we understand the significance of justice, mercy and grace?
Justice = we get what we deserve
Mercy = we don’t get what we deserve
Grace = we get what we don’t deserve

How much Christianity is based on the concept that the world desperately needs redemption (saving), and the assumption that the job of the ‘church’ is to bring that about?  There are so many programs and agendas – so much written and spoken material – all of which seems to create an ongoing frustration.  Maybe we have overlooked the simplicity of the gospel message.  Maybe we need to go back to the two trees!  The Bible tells us that Jesus was without sin.

Could it be that we have misunderstood the meaning of sin, guilt, grace, repentance and forgiveness?
